The main focus of the Summer School was X-ray Absorption Spectroscopy (XAS) and its application in the direct speciation of selenium in plants. Over the course of five days, 21 students took part in both theoretical lectures and hands-on data analysis sessions.

A key highlight of the programme was a visit to the ALBA Synchrotron, one of Europe’s leading research infrastructures, where participants gained insight into large-scale research facilities and their role in advanced analytical techniques.

The Summer School concluded as an intensive and inspiring week of science, discussion, and knowledge exchange. Initiatives such as this support collaboration between research teams and contribute to the development of safe, functional, selenium-enriched food, in line with the objectives of the PATHFOOD project.
